- Your modem has a faulty splitter that is interrupting the connection. For most modem or internet connection outlets, a splitter is essential. This component breaks down the incoming connection into three. One for your television, another for your phone, and the last one for your modem or Wi-Fi router. 8 Ways to Troubleshoot Your Xfinity Modem Blinking Blue

- Then plug the cable back into the power supply and switch on the router.

5. Look for Loose/Damaged Connections
Check for any loose or damaged connections and make sure everything is properly connected. If the power connection or data cables are loose, this can cause a poor internet connection and/or no internet at all.
Here are a few simple steps to check your connections:
- Unplug all of the chords/connections and look for physical damage in the wires, router ports, splitter, and wall jack. Make sure that there isn’t any moisture or cord fraying going on.
- If there is damage present, replace the connective cables. Then restart the router once the new wires/cables are securely in place.
6. Restart Your Home Network Entirely
If you are rocking a modem and router setup or a combination setup, then you need to troubleshoot the connection between the two. This could be causing the flashing blue light on your Xfinity modem.
The best way to do this is to restart your home network entirely. Here’s how:
- Power down your router and disconnect it from the modem.
- Remove the cable from the modem that leads to the power socket.
- Remove the ethernet cable that connects the router and modem.
- Wait for 10+ minutes to let them sit.
- Then reconnect the modem to your power socket.
- Plug the router back into the modem.
- Run the ethernet cable back between the two, and power on both.

There are a few ways of doing this, the easiest of which is pressing the reset button on the back of your Xfinity modem.
